SPRITZ
PLUS
Finding merit in the "less is more" concept and the power of
imprecision, this class focuses on the soluble properties of markers and other
water-based media to achieve watercolor effects using rubber stamps. Bleaching
out imagery on black paper, then re-introducing color with high contrast accents
is also tackled to achieve startling effects.
We continue by taking all the fun ideas covered
in the first half of the class and give ourselves some serious play time putting
them to use. We’ll try pretty much anything from cropped efforts for some A-2
size notecards, to larger watercolor treatments to page size artwork that can be
mounted on other flat surfaces like the composition books seen in the samples.
Chlorine bleach is used in this class. Due to the caustic nature of
this chemical, students are STRONGLY warned of the hazards! Suggested
safety materials may include - but are not limited to - latex gloves, a work apron,
and eye protection. Remember to take care, and to look out for those around you
and their property, and the property of the sponsoring institution for this
class.
Runs 6 hours (not including a break around the mid-point) and includes handouts and a large supply of instructor-provided supplies.
Students will be responsible for a minimal list of specific required materials.
Max - 12 students.

Samples are only indicative of class exercises. Specifics and results will
vary. More examples using techniques from these classes may be seen at www.fredbmullett.com.
